The Tempest

The Tempest is from the great imagination and creative mind of one Adam McKerron.  I have been following Adam in his work and felt that The Rolls-Royce Tempest needed to be shown to the world.  Firstly it shows how wonderful Adam's mind actually is, to be creating such a masterpiece of art but a car that truly follows the philosophy of Rolls-Royce.

Adam McKerron has been studying Automotive Design at Coventry University, from a long lived ambition to design cars.  The Rolls-Royce Tempest was Adam's second year project and what a project.

Rolls-Royce has a natural knack of keeping the old in the new. The evolution of technology can still be hidden in the way a Rolls-Royce is put together.  To capture their philosophy of building or should I say near crafting a car, Adam has looked back to the years when Rolls-Royce had the greatest of Glamour and hand crafting excellence cruising the roads of the world.  It is apparent when driving one of these fine cars, that Rolls-Royce want you to drift back to those years and The Tempest is no different.  The Tempest is embracing the past while quite modestly showing the move forward.  Smooth elegant flowing lines and covered rear wheels, elements of the 1925 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe'.  The distinctive large grille and of course the the fair Silver Lady leading the way.   Interior is no different. Large areas of fine oak burr crafted to suit by hand and hiding the tech to give that truly natural and classical luxury feeling.  A rare and beautiful emerald has been inset top and centre, adding a highlighted personal touch.  The hidden tech controlled from the interface lower centre console, provides all entertainment and drive aspects of the car.

Under the bonnet/hood resides a Rolls-Royce Special Operations 6.8 Litre V12 heart with 460 horsepower. This is coupled by a further 170 horsepower electric motor, creating a powerhouse hybrid of 630 horsepower.  Modest for a V12 but an innovation that extends the distance as fuel becomes less and possibly more expensive in the market but primarily enables Rolls-Royce to keep that traditional silent running that is apparent in every Rolls-Royce on the road today.  All this power is gracefully paired with an 8 speed double clutch gearbox to keep and enhance the peaceful and almost motionless drive.

Adam McKerron has placed an amazing design in front of the world.  All tradition and philosophy of Rolls-Royce have been taken into consideration.  If like me you have enjoyed this work, then join me in hopefully another masterpiece from the amazing mind of Adam McKerron.
